Abbe Flap

  • The Abbe flap is a lip switch rotational flap used to reconstruct full-thickness defects of the lip. 1
    • Unlike an Estlander flap, an Abbe flap does not involve the oral commissure.
    • Generally used to reconstruct full thickness defects involving 1/2 to 2/3 of the upper or lower lip, which do not involve the oral commissure.2
